    Super large black wooden decorated Dala horse from Sweden
    Dalahast/ Dala horse/ Dalarna horse/ Dalecarlian horse/ Dalahäst:
    It is a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna
    Back in the days, the Dalarna horse was mostly made to become a toy for children; nowadays it has become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as of Sweden in general and they look beautiful in your bookshelf or on the chimney mantle
    Why are the horses mostly painted in red and with these decorations?
    It is not sure but the decoration of the Dala horse probably has its roots in furniture painting. According to a local tale, a wandering painter in the style of kurbits came across one of these Dala horses in a farm he was decorating and painted them in the same style since the children wanted their horses painted too.
