First edition of this rare catalogue touting the design and concept work of George Walker and his team at Ford in 1957. After the departure of Bill Schmidt, Walker was promoted to Vice President and director of the styling office overseeing the development of the popular Ford Thunderbird, the design changes for the Lincoln Continental, the unbuilt Ford X-2000 Concept Car, and even a drawing of a version of the Ford Nucleon which was intended to eventually feature a miniaturized nuclear reactor to power the vehicle. This book shows the building of the concept car clay model, how the upholstery and interior are developed, fabrication, and more. Walker (1896-1993) studied with famed industrial designer Harley Earl, a fashion designer, and art director in Cleveland, before being brought into Ford following World War II.
