The Ford photographic archives located at Ford World headquarters has been closed to the public for many, many years. In the early 1990s I had the opportunity to visit the photographic archives prior to its closure to the public, to search for unusual, unpublished photographs of the GT40 in period, for my private collection. This is one of those photographs. I own a multitude of Ford GT and GT40 books written over the last 50 years, I believe this photo has never before been published. It was printed directly from the negative in the photographic archives at a time when an individual could order prints from archived negatives that the Archive staff would then print to order, on-site in Ford Photographic’s own lab. I doubt this image could be printed again today as I’m sure Ford Photographic has long since dismantled their photo lab.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a rare, unpublished image of only the very second Ford GT GT40 to ever be produced by April 1964, on its very first outing, before it was smashed up by Roy Savadori after only a few laps of testing.
This is a singular and individual photograph NON-EXISTANT ANYWHERE ELSE that was printed by Ford Photographic at Ford World Headquarters from the original negative!!!!
The photo is over 25 years old and in perfect condition, having never been mounted or framed or displayed. The negative number has been written on the back side by lab personnel.
