5.5" long x 3.6" wide (one front print)-hind is same size
caribou tracks are the widest spread and therefor
roundest of the deer family. The dew claws are well developed for extra support on snow,
They usually show and are an indicator of gait. The more perpendicular to
direction of travel the faster the gait.
In the winter the soft inner part of the hoof tightens and the outer edge hardens
give an edge for travel in snow. The hair between the toes grows more dense
to help protect the hoof. In the summer they spread out and soften for travel
in bogs.
